September 30, 2018

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend. It is so hard to believe that today is the last day in September and tomorrow when the kiddies come to school it will be October 1!

We are still working quite hard on routines, and procedures as a group. We started Center work this week, and for the most part it has gone quite well.

Just a few reminders:

1. Tomorrow is the Terry Fox Run. If you would like to bring in donations please bring it in the homework bags tomorrow. :)

2. I am sending home the reading books tomorrow. These books are supposed to be easy for the child. If you are not finding that is the case please contact me and we will get your child some different books. We are still making tweaks here and there for their levels.

3. I will be sending home book orders this week for October. They will be due back Wednesday,October 17. I sent home the books from the last order this week! I hope everyone is enjoying their items. :)

4. There will be no school Monday, October 8, as it is Thanksgiving Monday.

5. I added a gadget to the top right hand corner on the blog so parents can subscribe to the blog. You will get an email notification when I post. :) I will send this through email as well!

Thanks so much,

Sarah

September 26,2018

Hi Everyone! Happy Wednesday!

1. Just a reminder there is no school on Friday, September 28, as there is a Professional Development Day that day.

2. The new playground for our schools is currently in the running for the Aviva Community Fund grants. They choose 10 finalists, who will then be judged by a panel of judges, with all 10 finalists receiving $15,000 each and the 3 winners receiving $100,000 each. The ideas with the most votes will become the finalists. We are asking everyone to log onto the Aviva Community fund website(link below) and vote for our playground! It is easy, you log onto the website, register and then vote for Stratford Elementary School playground. Each email receives 10 votes to use, so please spread the word to everyone you know. Voting is open now until Oct.4. This could really make a huge impact in our fundraising efforts so we hope that everyone will help us out.

Here is the link!

Thanks so much for your support! :)

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. :)

1. I forgot to mention on the weekend that we are collecting the money for the Pancake Breakfast. It will be held at the Stratford Hall. This is a big fundraiser for the school and we would love your support! It is from 7:30-11:00. Forms were sent home last week. If you need another form, let me know! If you plan on attending, please send your order form and money in your child's homework bags this week.

2. I sent math home again this week. It is a review on doubles. They all seem to know them pretty well!

3. Reading books will be sent home next week. Check homework bags Monday. Inside the green duotang will have a note for you about how it is done. :)

4. Terry Fox Run is also next Monday. Any donations for this can be sent in the homework bags as well. I will send a reminder on the weekend!

Thanks!

Sarah

September 22, 2018

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

It was so nice to see you at the Meet the Teacher last week. :)

We are continuing to work on our routines and procedures this week. Our class is doing wonderful at it! In math, we are reviewing their addition strategies, as well as working with the numbers 1-100.

Here are a few notes for our week:

1. There is no school Friday, September 28, as it is a Professional Development Day for the school.

2. On Thursday, September 27, Glen Stewart Primary will be celebrating Orange Shirt Day. Many schools across Canada will be participating in Orange Shirt Day. Since it began in 2013, participation in this day is an opportunity for teachers and students to bring awareness of residential schools and is also an invitation to reconciliation.

3. When parents are dropping off students, please do not exit your cars.  If you need to exit your car, please park your car in a parent parking space.  Parents who are dropping off their children need to have their children exit their car at the “drop students here” sign, near the loop’s exit.

4. This is our first week celebrating Star of the Week! Every Friday (or the last day of the school week, our class will do a random draw for our Star. That day, a letter will be sent home, as well as a poster for them to complete. They will return with the poster on Monday. We will make time each day to celebrate that student.

One thing that is not in the letter, is that each student is able to bring in five photographs of themselves, and their family, friends, pets, etc... this is not mandatory, but they have the option if they wish.

Parents will be asked to write a letter for Wednesday, that will be given to your child. It could be a memory ,and accomplishment, anything you wish!

Our first star of the week is Mara!

5. If students wish to bring in a coiled scribbler, or a journal to write and draw in, feel free to send it. I do not mind at all! There have been a few students who have been asking.

That is all for now! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to message!
